Caradigm Identity Access Management Solution Certified for Use With FairWarning’s Patient Privacy Monitoring System

BELLEVUE, WA – Mar. 17, 2015Caradigm, the leader in enterprise population health, today announced that Caradigm Provisioning has achieved certification in the FairWarning Ready® for Identity Management program, creating an integrated solution that offers healthcare organizations enhanced data privacy monitoring and alerting.

Hospitals using Caradigm Provisioning with the FairWarning® Patient Privacy Monitoring Platform (“FairWarningPlatform”) will be able to more rapidly determine if there is inappropriate access to patient records when they receive alerts and then take actions to remediate the problem.

“Operating Caradigm Provisioning and the FairWarning Platform together has enhanced our organization’s ability to proactively discover, respond to, and mitigate potential security incidents,” said Vincent Berretta, manager of security for Virtua, one of New Jersey’s largest health systems. “As a result, Virtua has been able to further solidify our overall security posture.”

Part of Caradigm’s suite of Identity and Access Management solutions for healthcare, Caradigm Provisioning helps healthcare organizations minimize security and compliance risk through role-based management of user identity. By codifying access and entitlement rights for the organization in a central repository, and by managing the creation, modification and termination of user access to clinical and core systems, Caradigm Provisioning helps organizations protect patient data while giving their clinicians rapid access to the applications and information they need to perform their jobs.

“Healthcare organizations are facing unprecedented risks to patient privacy and security, and they’re not fully prepared to manage that risk,” said Ralf Klein, vice president, identity and access management, Caradigm. “Caradigm’s collaboration with FairWarning® will give health systems the comprehensive tools they need to quickly pinpoint security issues and take steps to rectify them.”

FairWarning Ready® for Identity Management is a comprehensive program designed to help hospital customers make better use of their existing investment in IT infrastructure. The FairWarning Ready® for Identity Management program enables identity management application vendors to seamlessly integrate with FairWarning® Patient Privacy Monitoring to provide customers with advanced privacy monitoring and alerting.

“By leveraging identity management investments, healthcare providers are able to dramatically reduce the time and effort required to integrate key user identity data and deliver sustainable compliance through their patient privacy monitoring program,” said Shane Whitlatch, FairWarning enterprise vice president.

Customers that integrate Caradigm Provisioning with the FairWarning Platform now have the following capabilities when privacy alerts are triggered:

  • Caradigm’s Provisioning solution provides FairWarning® with a more complete view of the users accessing systems through a daily import of provisioned users. The additional information, including their location, department, role, telephone number, email address, manager’s name, etc. provides the security and privacy managers need when performing an investigation.
  • Using Caradigm’s Provisioning solution, security officers can then take critical security actions, such as suspending all access to clinical applications until the investigation of the person in question is complete; modifying access rights to certain pieces of the clinical application; or removing all access completely from that clinical application.
  • By alerting security officers with potential problems, providing them with additional information and empowering them to take critical actions, Caradigm and FairWarning® can now provide customers with a more complete lifecycle of patient privacy protection.

With customers representing over 7,000 facilities globally, FairWarning® is seeing increased investment in identity management infrastructure across the healthcare industry. The FairWarning® Ready program focuses on partnering with identity management vendors who have demonstrated a track record of customer success in the healthcare industry, to speed and improve patient privacy monitoring deployments and to protect against inadvertent, criminal and fraudulent misuse of electronic health records.

Greenville Health System Selects Caradigm for Population Health

Caradigm Solutions to Play Critical Role in Greenville Health System’s Clinical Integration Efforts

BELLEVUE, WA – March 4, 2015 – Caradigm, the leader in enterprise population health, today announced that Greenville Health System (GHS) – the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in South Carolina – has selected Caradigm to help execute its population health strategy.

In developing its population health strategy, GHS recognized a need to standardize care models, risk stratification processes, and underlying data flow and analytics across its diverse system. The organization also understood that it would face a number of challenges, including disparate electronic medical record systems and health information exchanges. After an extensive evaluation, GHS concluded that Caradigm’s exclusive focus on population health and cloud-based delivery was best suited to meet its current and long-term needs for managing the clinical and financial risks of patient populations.

“Our goal is to improve care, reduce costs and enhance the patient experience across the entire continuum of care,” said Dr. Angelo Sinopoli, vice president of clinical integration and chief medical officer for GHS. “We believe that Caradigm has the right approach to population health, and by working together, we can achieve our goals more quickly.”

GHS will implement Caradigm’s Care Management, Quality Improvement and Risk Management solutions, as well as the Caradigm Intelligence Platform and Knowledge Hub. Through the implementation and use of these solutions, GHS will expand its insights to its patient populations by leveraging patient data stored in multiple, disparate systems across sites, with the ability to analyze, stratify and manage patient populations based on clinical outcomes and financial risk. Caradigm’s engagement with GHS will initially focus on patient population management for its participation in the Medicare Shared Savings Program and improved management of its self-insured employee and dependent lives.

“Caradigm is extremely impressed by the leadership position Greenville Health System is taking in population health and its commitment to achieving the highest levels of healthcare excellence while managing costs,” said Michael Simpson, CEO of Caradigm. “It is extremely gratifying to work with an organization like GHS, which recognizes that the shifts occurring in health care require new thinking and solutions to address a long-term strategy for population health.”

Caradigm Enables Healthcare Providers to Participate in the Federal Government’s Delivery Reform Incentive Program

Medicaid Incentive Program Participants Can Help Improve Outcomes Required For Reimbursement With Caradigm’s Population Health Solutions

BELLEVUE, WA – Feb. 19, 2015Caradigm, the leader in enterprise population health, today announced a solution package designed to help Performing Provider Systems (PPSs) succeed under the federal government’s Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) program.

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created DSRIP to improve both quality of care and healthcare access for underserved individuals. State governments use funding from CMS to encourage PPSs to participate in this program.

“U.S. healthcare is undergoing a transformation and DSRIP is one example of a program that is focused towards encouraging and incenting innovation in care delivery,” said Brian Drozdowicz, senior vice president, global population health, Caradigm. “Caradigm’s solutions are designed to support specific state-based initiatives such as DSRIP, which includes driving the system and clinical transformations needed to achieve population health.”

PPSs face the complexity of data consolidation and normalization; access to real-time data for performance management; and care intervention for patients. Caradigm’s DSRIP solutions, including healthcare analytics, care and risk management, enable PPSs to put functional population health management tools in place to identify, monitor and report on at-risk patient populations.

Further, Caradigm’s DSRIP solutions are unique as they not only report improvements, but deliver the means to achieve improvement goals, as PPSs are able to identify gaps in care quality improvement and find new ways to engage families and patients in their care. These benefits contribute to the overall DSRIP goals of reducing avoidable hospital use, improving health measures and transforming Medicaid into a more cost-efficient program with improved outcomes.

Orion Health and Caradigm Expand Partnership to Deliver Integrated Health Information Exchange, Intelligence Platform and Applications

Extensible, end-to-end solution will help healthcare communities use data to gain insight
and transform care

Bellevue, Wash. and Santa Monica, CA – March 27, 2013Caradigm, a Microsoft and GE Healthcare company, and Orion Health, a global leader in eHealth technology and interoperability, today announced they have expanded their alliance agreement to integrate Orion Health’s market-leading Health Information Exchange (HIE) solution with the Caradigm Intelligence Platform (CIP) and ecosystem of applications, which will allow healthcare communities to more rapidly address today’s most complex challenges—including new models of care delivery and payment, population health management and patient engagement—while also helping to reduce costs and increase revenue.

The companies’ integrated, end-to-end solution will offer healthcare organizations the ability to move beyond simple data exchange by using near real-time data aggregated from disparate systems across the healthcare community to rapidly gain insight about patients, populations, performance and outcomes. These insights can be used to identify opportunities and steps to help healthcare organizations improve care for patients and populations across the community.

Healthcare organizations also will be able to use the aggregated data in a wide range of CIP-powered applications developed to target challenges related to population health management, revenue and cost optimization, and healthcare quality improvement. For example, the ecosystem of applications developed by Caradigm and industry partners helps healthcare organizations improve patient engagement, reduce avoidable costs like readmissions, drive quality improvement across populations, and manage new payment and care delivery models, such as accountable care and pay for performance.

Orion Health will expand the Caradigm application ecosystem by developing new applications for the Caradigm Intelligence Platform that take advantage of the extensive data available through Orion Health HIE. These new applications will be aimed at addressing customer needs in the areas of decision support, quality improvement and metrics, and population health management.

Under the new agreement, Orion Health also will act as a referral partner for the Caradigm Intelligence Platform and the integrated solution in the U.S., and as a reseller and services provider for CIP and the Caradigm Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions in certain territories outside of the U.S. The IAM suite includes Caradigm Provisioning, Caradigm Single Sign-On and Caradigm Context Management, products designed to accelerate caregiver access to the right patient data across multiple applications, helping organizations improve patient safety, reduce errors and spend more time with patients.  Caradigm will resell Orion Health HIE under the Caradigm brand and promote the integrated solution to health systems in the U.S.

“We’re excited to partner with Orion Health to address the escalating needs of healthcare organizations worldwide with a new generation of interoperability solutions,” said Caradigm CEO Michael Simpson. “As health systems everywhere search for better answers to quality, cost, revenue and population health management, we expect our partnership to deliver significant value to our customers and strong growth for both of our companies.”

“Orion Health HIE is one of the most widely deployed HIEs in the world, linking hundreds of facilities, used by hundreds of thousands of end users, and caring for a population of millions of lives. We look forward to offering our mutual expertise to healthcare organizations worldwide,” said Paul Viskovich, president, Orion Health North America. “Combined with the Caradigm Intelligence Platform’s powerful framework for robust applications, this expanded partnership creates a new generation of solutions that make it easier to aggregate and analyze data to improve care.”

“Platform as a service will increasingly play a role in the health information exchange market as vendors add value-added services, such as analytics, care management and consumer engagement tools,” said Lynne Dunbrack, program director, Connected Health IT Strategies at IDC Health Insights. “This will be especially evident as HIE vendors build out their technology portfolios to target the burgeoning accountable care market and update solution offerings for healthcare providers that are building out their ACO capabilities.”
