DrChrono.com Now Offering First Medical Speech-to-Text Functionality on iPad® Via M*Modal Speech Understanding™

M*Modal, the industry leader in advanced Speech Understanding technology, today announced that DrChrono.com, the premier publisher of dynamic point-of-care and practice management software, is offering M*Modal’s unique Speech Understanding technology as part of Dr.Chrono’s innovative iPad EHR app.

World’s First iPad EHR Utilizing M*Modal’s Powerful Technology to Voice-Enable Innovative Platform

Pittsburgh, PA – July 19, 2011 — M*Modal, the industry leader in advanced Speech Understanding™ technology, today announced that DrChrono.com, the premier publisher of dynamic point-of-care and practice management software, is offering M*Modal’s unique Speech Understanding technology as part of Dr.Chrono’s innovative iPad EHR app. This integration represents the first medical speech-to-text functionality for the Apple® iPad® and adds a significant enhancement to the DrChrono.com platform—the first native EHR application built for the iPad.

DrChrono.com allows physicians to streamline their daily workflows by giving them the ability to access all health records on demand via the iPad, iPhone, any Web browser or Android device.  For clinical documentation on the go, physicians dictate their notes into a Bluetooth headset, and M*Modal’s technology automatically transforms the voice into text directly in the digital patient record. M*Modal’s Speech Understanding permits conversational documentation that matches doctor preferences for workflow and promotes adoption of EHRs.

The iPad has achieved rapid adoption among physicians, reaching 30 percent of U.S. physicians currently and another 28 percent planning to acquire soon, according to a recent survey by Manhattan Research.  Meredith Ressi, president of that firm, noted, “Physicians’ response to the iPad has been overwhelmingly positive, especially for use in the practice setting. Physicians also express strong interest in being able to access electronic medical records through the iPad – as more EMR providers offer this ability, iPad accessibility may be a deciding factor for some practices when selecting an EMR provider.”

Michael Nusimow, CEO and Co-Founder ofDrChrono.com said, “Our mission is to deliver an EHR that physicians will actually use.  M*Modal’s ability to work on the iPad and its respect for doctors’ preferences and productivity needs made the company our choice for pioneering iPad-based speech-to-text.”

“DrChrono.com understands the need for mobility in clinical documentation with full context provided by the EHR,” said Michael Finke, CEO, M*Modal. “With the iPad appearing to be a true game-changer in healthcare, DrChrono.com’s collaboration with M*Modal has produced significant and beneficial innovation.”

M*Modal solutions support one-fifth of the physicians actively practicing medicine today in enterprise and clinic settings.  M*Modal partners with a wide range of EHR, radiology system and clinical documentation companies.

VitalHealth Software Announces Meaningful Use Readiness

Today VitalHealth announced that it has submitted its EHR for Practices version 1.8, designed with Mayo Clinic, for Stage 1 Meaningful Use certification. The company is also broadening its beta testing program for the product and inviting small practices across the nation to participate.

VitalHealth Submits its Electronic Health Record for Small Practices Designed with Mayo Clinic for Meaningful Use Certification; Invites Small Practices to Participate in Expanded Beta Program

Milwaukee, WI – June  23, 2011  — VitalHealth Software, a leading provider of web-based software solutions for health management, today announced that it has submitted its VitalHealth EHR for Practices version 1.8, the latest version of its electronic health record (EHR) solution for small practices, for Stage 1 Meaningful Use certification. The company is also broadening its beta testing program for the product and inviting small practices across the nation to participate.

Once deemed 2011/2012 compliant, VitalHealth EHR for Practices version 1.8 will be certified as a “Complete EHR” by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), as part of the ONC-ATCB certification program, and in accordance with the applicable hospital certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (H&HS). The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 Meaningful Use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

VitalHealth EHR for Practices is specifically built for small physician practices, focusing on those with fewer than 10 practitioners. The EHR is designed to not only meet but exceed the Stage 1 Meaningful Use requirements, providing all required Core measures and all optional Menu set objectives for eligible providers. The EHR technology platform is based on years of extensive research and solution development, while the EHR itself is designed with intellectual property licensed from Mayo Clinic. In order to assure that the system will be easy to use within the highly-varied work styles of small practices, the interface has significant levels of customization and flexibility, allowing each individual physician to work the way they are accustomed to. This next-generation EHR is one of the first designed specifically for use with an Apple iPad® as well as other tablet formats, laptops and desktops.

“By submitting the VitalHealth EHR for Meaningful Use certification, we are further showing our commitment to providing physicians with the clinical and operational benefits of an affordable, easy-to-use, world-class EHR,” said VitalHealth CEO, Laurens van der Tang. “As a company, our goal is twofold: first, to deliver an EHR that physicians truly want to pick up and use, because it allows them to deliver better care, more efficiently; and second, to help physicians qualify for government incentives. This Meaningful Use submission is an important milestone in achieving both of those goals.”

The ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that Complete EHRs meet all of the 2011/2012 criteria and EHR Modules meet at least one or more of the criteria approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) for either eligible provider or hospital technology.

VitalHealth EHR for Practices version 1.8 is slated for Complete EHR certification in July of 2011.

VitalHealth Software also recently announced that it is expanding its beta program for its EHR, inviting small practices across the nation to use VitalHealth EHR for Practices and provide feedback for on-going enhancements to the product.

According to Laurens van der Tang, the collaboration with MML illustrates the value that this EHR technology platform delivers to the medical community, “With this marketing collaboration we are joining efforts with an organization that brings over 40 years of in-depth laboratory knowledge gained through its extensive experience and long standing relationships with community hospitals engaged in outreach services throughout the U.S,” said van der Tang. “It is beneficial to VitalHealth and its customers to have primary care expertise embedded in our EHR solution. Between the recent MML sales channel relationship, the opening of our beta program, and the anticipated meaningful use certification, this is a very exciting time for VitalHealth, setting us up for a very successful formal launch this summer.”

GE Healthcare Expands Mobile Access to Electronic Medical Records

Company’s Focus on mHealth Demonstrated at HIMSS11 Conference; Offers Free iPad® to New Centricity Advance Customers

ORLANDO – Feb 23, 2011 – General Electric, an industry leader in the adoption of mobile technology, demonstrated the extension of its healthcare IT portfolio to mobile devices and tablet computing at this week’s Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference in Orlando. The company featured remote access to its portfolio of electronic medical records (EMRs) for physician practices, including Centricity* Advance and Centricity Practice Solution, on the Apple® iPad and iPhone®.

Across its business, GE Healthcare is focused on shifting the architecture of its proven software solutions to web technologies, which lighten the application footprint and bring clinicians the benefits of anytime, anywhere access to critical patient data. Today, Centricity Advance and Centricity Practice Solution EMR customers are using a range of mobile devices with Internet access to view patient medical records such as history, medication and problem lists, and allergies, helping them reduce potential medical errors and take care of urgent patient questions quickly, even in the evening or on weekends.

“GE has some of the best technologies in the world, and now we have the mobile platforms to help customers do even better things with our EMR solutions,” said Jim Corrigan, Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare IT. “We can make something easy to use, but the back end can be extremely powerful. The possibilities for rolling out iPad applications to the physician community are truly exciting, and we’re pleased to preview those solutions at HIMSS.”

At HIMSS, GE Healthcare is demonstrating the iPad applications it plans to roll out this year. These native iPad app versions of Centricity Advance and Centricity Practice Solution will take full advantage of the mobile device’s capabilities, easing the flow of information and adding features such as flicking through the application and zooming in on areas of the screen. The company also launched a limited-time promotion, offering a free iPad to physicians who purchase Centricity Advance before March 31, 2011**. These customers will have immediate access to the Centricity Advance iPad EMR application when it is available, at no additional charge.

“By accessing Centricity Advance on the iPad, providers are able to view the most important patient information and enter clinical notes from the patient appointment room, from home, on the road – wherever makes the most sense and is most convenient,” said Chittaranjan Mallepeddi, Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare’s Centricity Advance business. “Not only are we leading the industry in mobile application development, but we’re making the technology more accessible to physicians looking to adopt an EMR now, with the inclusion of a free iPad for new customers.”

Centricity Advance and Centricity Practice Solution are part of GE Healthcare’s portfolio of integrated EMR, practice management and patient portal solutions for physicians. In a separate announcement at HIMSS11, GE Healthcare announced the launch of Centricity Practice Solution version 10, which features integrated quality reporting dashboards that are included in the mobile access offering.

Centricity Advance is a web-based EMR solution, built as a true Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud computing platform to make the solution affordable, easy to use and flexible to meet the needs of growing physician practices. For more information on the Centricity Advance iPad promotion, visit www.gehealthcare.com/iPadPromo.

GE Healthcare is also showing Centricity Imaging Mobile Access for PACS, which will help to enhance patient care by providing true “anywhere, anytime” un-tethered access enabling Centricity PACS users to pull images and reports from an Apple or Android smartphone or tablet. The application for this solution is currently 510(k) pending at FDA.
