TigerText Opens Its Secure Communications Platform to Developers with Launch of TigerConnect API

Third Party Applications Can Now Integrate with TigerText, the Healthcare Industry’s Largest Secure Messaging Platform

New Orleans, LA, March 5, 2013 – TigerText, Inc., the leader in secure real-time messaging for the enterprise, today announced at the HIMSS 2013 Conference the opening of the TigerText platform to developers through TigerConnect, its open API.   TigerConnect allows developers to harness the power of TigerText’s platform to communicate with customers, partners and other third parties in a secure manner that complies with industry regulations.

“For healthcare providers that need fast response times and seamless care coordination, secure, HIPAA compliant communications is a must,” said Dr. Mark Singh, President and CEO, Clinicore. “We chose to integrate TigerText into our clinical solution, through the TigerConnect open API, because secure messaging is a must for our existing workflow. TigerText enables our users to securely exchange clinical documents and images as part of a communication thread in our existing software. With our integrated solution, our users have the flexibility to communicate in multiple ways, whether from their smartphone app or a desktop computer.”

By opening its platform, TigerText enables developers and organizations to extend the benefits of secure messaging beyond their own corporate directory.  With texting becoming the preferred method of communication amongst healthcare providers and doctors, organizations can use TigerText to send and receive all types of information securely on their smartphone, tablet or computer, all while complying with HIPAA regulations.  For example, lab and diagnostic companies can securely text critical lab results directly from their systems to physicians, saving time and resources trying to track doctors down by phone.  Doctors can also use TigerConnect to query third party systems to retrieve timely information such as who is on call, what room their patient is in, or any other information that lies within an EMR.  TigerConnect also enables secure communication with legacy systems and answering service software.

“For nearly 15 years, AMiON has been managing physician call schedules and delivering critical pages to doctors,” said Stuart Karon, Founder of AMiON.  “We support just about every messaging platform available. TigerText is the first we’re comfortable enough with to recommend. TigerConnect lets us integrate TigerText messaging seamlessly into our web service. Messages arrive on people’s devices almost instantly. They’re secure. And with free and pro levels, our customers can keep costs low or maintain enterprise-wide control over messaging.”

“As more organizations recognize the potential of secure real-time messaging and trends such as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) emerge, we believe secure messaging will play a critical role in driving faster response times and improvements in organizational accountability through the use of TigerText’s “read notifications” capability. With our large and growing healthcare customer base, we have seen first-hand how much instant communication can improve care coordination and drive real productivity,” said Brad Brooks, president and co-founder, TigerText. “In turn, we believe that companies need a secure, reliable and scalable solution to drive real utility for their customers.  Today we send more than a million messages a day across our platform as a result of the rapid adoption of TigerText, so we are well positioned to deliver this utility.  When you consider that over two trillion text messages were sent in the US in 2011 alone, it is clear that secure and compliant messaging is set to transform enterprise communications, and we believe TigerText will lead this change.”

Beyond health care, TigerText can be utilized by government agencies, financial institutions and other organizations that have stringent regulations regarding the communication of sensitive information.  There is no charge to get started with the platform and message recipients don’t need the TigerText app to receive and send messages.

TigerText has previously announced integrations with Dropbox and AMiON, allowing their customers to securely share files and access information stored in the cloud.  In order to provide the widest range of connectivity, developers integrating with TigerText can leverage HTTP, SMTP, and WCTP protocols.  As part of today’s launch, TigerText will provide a Software Development Kit (SDK) for companies that want to integrate secure messaging within their own apps or services.
