Qualcomm Life and WebMD Collaborate to Bring Integrated Digital Health Resources and Tools to Consumers

Qualcomm Life’s 2net Ecosystem attracts new technology partners with release of 2net Hub API and SDK and launch of 2net Ecosystem Technology Certification Program at the 2013 HIMSS Conference in New Orleans, LA

NEW ORLEANS and SAN DIEGO – March 4, 2013 – Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Life, Inc., is joining forces with WebMD, the leading source of health information, to bring in a new era of next generation health care and enable millions of health-conscious consumers to access and manage wireless health data from a wide array of fitness, wellness and medical devices. The announcement was made at the HIMSS 2013 conference being held at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
“We are delighted to be working with WebMD, the leading multi-screen source of health information for consumers and physicians,” said Rick Valencia, vice president and general manager, Qualcomm Life. “Our industry leading 2netTM Platform will be integrated with various WebMD offerings to provide consumers and physicians with an industry-defining connected health experience.”
Qualcomm Life and WebMD are making biometric data available, actionable and relevant to consumers so they can more proactively manage their health and fitness. This technology collaboration will establish an open ecosystem of digital health apps and third-party devices across various disease categories and lifestyle interests where consumers and physicians can select solutions that suit their preferences and healthcare needs.
Qualcomm Life Launches 2net Ecosystem Initiatives
In addition to the WebMD collaboration, Qualcomm Life is further enabling innovation and customization of mobile health applications and services by announcing limited availability of the Beta version of the 2net Hub Application Programming Interface (API) and Software Development Kit (SDK), as well as ensuring a robust connectivity experience across the 2net Ecosystem with the launch of its Technology Certification Program.
The 2net Hub API and SDK Beta, available by the end of March, will enable existing and new 2net Ecosystem partners to develop custom health care device connectivity for inclusion in the 2net Hub device library.
A key value of this offering is to enable integrated device functionality that takes advantage of wireless features of the health care device’s sensors, and provides the output in an accessible form on one of the most comprehensive and open wireless eco-systems in the world, the 2net Platform.
With over 220 technology collaborators making up the growing 2net Ecosystem, Qualcomm Life today also launched the Technology Certification Program which will challenge and empower participants of the 2net Ecosystem by offering criteria that categorizes products and solutions as 2net Basic, 2net Gold or 2net Platinum.

Qualcomm Life will be showcasing the 2netPlatform at the Qualcomm Life booth (#759) at HIMSS 2013 with 21 wireless health collaborators, including some of the newest collaborators to join the 2net Ecosystem such as Happtique, a mHealth solutions company, S3 Group, makers of the Healthy Citizen platform and designers of Telehealth systems and services, and Santech Health, developers of mobile and wireless technologies for behavioral interventions.
