Karos Health, a leader in standards-based clinical information exchange and storage solutions, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Grand River Hospital (GRH) to deploy Rialto, which enables seamless access of clinical information.
Karos’ Rialto will provide the connectivity and clinical integration infrastructure allowing authorized providers with access to the patient information managed in GRH’s hospital information system via the ClinicalConnect Portal.
ClinicalConnect, a secure online portal, allows health care providers to view patient information in one place. Available medical information includes hospital reports and lab results from 28 local hospitals and two Community Care Access Centres (CCACs), representing more than two million patients across Waterloo Wellington (WW) and Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant (HNHB) Local Health Integration Networks. With ClinicalConnect, timely and more informed patient care decisions can be made, and the need to repeat lab and diagnostic tests is reduced.
With the integration infrastructure provided by Rialto, GRH will become a clinical information contributor to the ClinicalConnect portal benefiting patient care throughout the WW and HNHB LHINs. GRH and Karos expect to have data published in Spring 2012, which completes the connectivity of all the acute care hospitals in Waterloo Wellington.
Rialto was selected after a rigorous RFP process for its comprehensive ability to create seamless sharing between ClinicalConnect and GRH’s hospital information system, and low total cost of ownership.
