KLAS Breaks New Ground with Vendor Performance Alerts and Peer Collaboration Tool

KLAS Alert and KLAS Connect provide real-time performance data and peer communication to help providers choose the right healthcare IT solutions

ORLANDO, Fla. – February 20, 2011 – KLAS today announced two new tools to help providers and vendors receive immediate performance data and to put healthcare IT users in touch with their peers. KLAS Alert enables newly detected trends impacting healthcare technology to be reported more quickly. In the past, providers have waited for the publication of a KLAS specialty report to understand how vendors’ products rate in each market segment. This new tool allows KLAS to scan the 25,000+ surveys collected annually and alert the market to significant findings on the 15th of each month. Alerts are based on specific criteria as outlined in the KLAS Alert methodology.

KLAS Alert will provide quicker access to industry trends, and share product challenges and successes earlier to allow for quicker detection and action. “Many of our provider partners have asked for more real-time analysis of vendor performance,” said Adam Gale, president of KLAS. “KLAS Alert is the platform for sharing new, critical trends. It will provide immediate reports on the latest information affecting healthcare IT decisions.”

Healthcare providers can access all alerts through their KLAS account. Vendors who are Platinum KLAS subscribers will have access to alerts for their own products and services. To view all published alerts for every product and service KLAS monitors, a vendor must subscribe to Platinum KLAS Plus.

The second tool KLAS announced today, KLAS Connect, is a new resource developed to put providers in touch with their peers who use similar healthcare technology products. This new search tool will easily allow providers to build a valuable network to compare best practices as well as to benchmark vendor solutions. Providers will be able to use this tool to search the KLAS database and request a connection to similar healthcare technology users, including products and services that more than 20,000 providers use at more than 7,500 organizations.

“Now providers will be able to collaborate with their peers through this vast network of healthcare IT users,” said John Graves, executive vice president of Operations at KLAS. “This new tool will increase a provider’s ability to compare their products and services before making any purchasing decision.”

KLAS Connect is available to healthcare providers with a Platinum KLAS subscription and will be released in beta format during HIMSS 2011.  Providers signing up for the beta version will receive a free three-month KLAS Connect trial subscription. Provider participation in the beta version will help KLAS further refine connections to better meet provider needs and will help simplify gathering critical information before making purchasing decisions, or renewing a contract. Providers can sign up for the beta version of KLAS Connect at www.KLASresearch.com/ConnectBeta.
