Attend the EHealth Initiative Conference On January 19

Conference to Explore Evolution from Policy-Making to Implementation

In less than a week, the nation’s top health IT policymakers, implementers and innovators will descend on Washington, D.C.’s Omni Shoreham Hotel for eHealth: Turning Policy Into Action, the eHealth Initiative’s Annual Conference.

Keynote speakers for the January 19-20 conference include Dr. David Blumenthal, the National Coordinator for Health IT; ABC Congressional Correspondent Cokie Roberts; Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti political consultants David Thomas and Alex Vogel; and eHealth Initiative Chief Executive OfficerJennifer Covich Bordenick.

“After the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and Health Reform, we have now arrived at the moment of truth,” said Covich Bordenick. “The plans are laid, the money is starting to flow, and the question is how do we actually ‘do’ this?

“This year we will be asking speakers and attendees to discuss where this country stands in the policy and implementation of health IT. Are we prepared to show real-world results through Meaningful Use, Care Coordination and Accountable Care Organizations, and many other initiatives? These questions, and the people who will be answering them, make this conference one of the key learning and networking opportunities of the year.”

eHealth: Turning Policy Into Action brings together the country’s most influential policymakers, medical experts, and information technology providers to helpattendees understand how health information technology is improving the quality, safety and efficiency of health care.

Topics covered during the conference include:

·      A Discussion with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation

·      Meaningful Use: A Look Ahead to Stage 2

·      The New Congress in 2011: Outlook for Health Care Policy

·      Privacy and Health IT: A Conversation with the Chief Privacy Officer

·      Care Coordination in the Real World

·      Creating Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs)

·      Data for Quality Improvement

·      HIT Coordination: Progress and Barriers at State Level

The annual eHealth Initiative Awards will be presented on the first night of the conference, honoring both individuals and organizations from across the country that, through the use of health IT, had a demonstrable impact in 2010 on the health of Americans.
