Medicomp Systems’ has announced the promotion of Dave Lareau to Chief Executive Officer. As you may recall, Medicomp Systems is responsible for not only the MEDCIN Engine, embedded into leading EHRs around the world, but also for Quippe, an easy to use physician and nursing documentation tool.
CHANTILLY (April 18, 2012) – Medicomp Systems announced today that David Lareau has been named Chief Executive Officer. Lareau has been with Medicomp Systems since 1995 as the Chief Operating Officer responsible for operations, product management, and business development.
Peter Goltra, founder of Medicomp Systems said, “Dave shares my vision of improving patient care by using technology to provide information and connectivity at the point of care. Dave’s leadership and industry knowledge has enabled us to put the MEDCIN Engine in leading EHR systems around the world.”
Before joining Medicomp Systems, Lareau founded a company that successfully put one of the first PC-based LAN systems, which used e-mail and groupware, into the Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. Following the success of The Sinai Hospital project, Lareau founded another company that focused on medical billing, which ultimately led him to partner with Peter Goltra of Medicomp Systems.
Since joining Medicomp in 1995, David Lareau has played an instrumental role in bringing Peter Goltra’s vision of improving medical care through information technology to life. The powerful MEDCIN Engine, developed by Goltra, has been continuously updated and expanded and can be found in leading EHRs around the world. The MEDCIN® Engine adapts to the unique clinical presentation of each patient, provides the codes needed for compliance and reimbursement and provides the engine for connected clinical care.
Under Lareau’s leadership, Medicomp recently introduced Quippe, powered by the MEDCIN Engine. Quippe is an easy to use web-based physician and nursing documentation tool that satisfies meaningful use requirements and runs on most mobile devices.
Goltra, who will remain as Chairman and President, said, “Dave has been instrumental in growing our company and I’m confident that he’s the right person to lead Medicomp into the future. His appointment to CEO will enable me to focus on the powerful MEDCIN Engine and continuing to expand our knowledge engine to genetics, nursing and home health.”

CHANTILLY (March 27, 2012) – Medicomp Systems debuted Quipstar, World’s Favorite HIT Quiz Show, live on the show floor at HIMSS12. The interactive health information technology quiz show gave contestants an opportunity to compete for prizes using Quippe®, Medicomp’s integrated physician and nursing documentation tool, by answering questions related to new industry coding and documentation requirements such as ICD-10 and meaningful use.
Quippe is ICD-10-CM ready, satisfies meaningful use requirements, is compatible with leading EHRs, and runs on mobile devices. Powered by Medicomp’s MEDCIN® Engine, Quippe adapts to the unique clinical presentation of each patient and provides the codes needed for compliance and reimbursement.
“I liked the user interface for this.” said Dr. Chris Pavlatos, a Chicago area physician who participated in the training. “I like the ability of the MEDCIN Engine to map down to SNOMED and to ICD-10. I think that is a very attractive feature.”
According to Dave Lareau, Chief Executive Officer at Medicomp, “Quipstar gave us the opportunity to show clinicians and EHR developers how easy Quippe is to use and learn. Using the power of the MEDCIN Engine, the trainees and contestants were able to learn Quippe after a short demo and then use that knowledge in a busy environment, not unlike a clinical facility.”
In addition to cash and prizes given to contestants, Medicomp also invited three “Quip Stars” to play for a $5,000 donation to their favorite charity. Danielle Hartley, Publisher of MedTech Media played for The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, “Inga” of HIStalk played for Mobile Loaves and Fishes and Dr. Eric Fishman of EHRtv played for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Medicomp Systems will again feature Quipstar at HIMSS 13 in New Orleans, March 4-7, 2013.

CHANTILLY (November 3, 2011) – Medicomp Systems newest documentation and patient management application, Quippe, has been imbedded into MED3OOO’s InteGreat EHR. Quippe is an easy to use and learn interface that puts the power to care back into the hands of the clinicians and allows them to focus on the patient, not data entry.
Quippe is powered by the MEDCIN Engine, a proven knowledge engine that adapts to the unique clinical presentation of each patient and provides all of the codes needed for compliance and reimbursement. It gives clinicians easy access to critical information needed to care for their patients while they document. Billing and Meaningful Use compliance requirements are automatically satisfied as a byproduct of documentation.
“We are very excited to have the first true end-to-end integration of the MEDCIN Engine,” stated Scott Sanner, Senior Vice President of MED3OOO. “This will be a revolutionary milestone in the evolution of Electronic Health Record technology. Physicians will no longer have to worry about adapting to an EHR, because they can have one that adapts to them.”
Quippe is a web-enabled EHR documentation tool that supports today’s mobile devices to provide clinicians with instant access to patient information. “Quippe is highly customizable and conforms naturally to the way doctors think and act. It allows them to document faster and more accurately,” said Peter Goltra of Medicomp Systems.
Quippe provides clinicians with the following benefits:
• Point-of-care clinical documentation
• Integrated team care planning
• MU, ACO and ICD-10-CM ready
• Minimal training time
• Cloud or server-based
