Explorys Selected as Finalist for 2013 Red Herring Top 100 North America Award

Leading Healthcare Big Data Analytics Company Named as a Top Start-Up in the Nation

Cleveland, OH — June 4, 2013 — Explorys, the leader in big data-driven healthcare transformation, today announced it had been selected as a finalist for the Red Herring Top 100 North America award, a prestigious award honoring the year’s most promising private technology ventures from the North American business region.

Finalist selections for the 2013 Red Herring 100 North America award were based on technological innovation, management strength, market size, investor record, customer acquisition and financial health. Red Herring also completed a thorough review of each company’s actual track record and standing, allowing Red Herring to see past the “buzz” and make the list a valuable instrument for discovering and advocating the greatest business opportunities in the industry. During the months leading up to the announcement, hundreds of companies in the fields of security, Web 2.0, software, hardware, life sciences, cloud, mobile, and others completed submissions to qualify for the award.

“We are honored to be recognized by a prestigious organization like Red Herring for what really is our singular mission—creating innovative technology and applications that enable the transformation of the  healthcare industry,” said Stephen McHale, CEO of Explorys. “Explorys has seen tremendous growth over the past twelve months as more and more provider organizations leverage the potential of our cloud-based big data platform and national Network, and being recognized as a finalist for this award is yet another testament to the both the clinical and economic value of the work we are doing.”

“The finalists list confirms the excellent choices made by entrepreneurs and VCs and the start-ups’ solid roots in corporate America, embracing their innovations. By all metrics, it emphasizes the United States’ entrepreneurial excellence,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring.

As a finalist, Explorys presented its winning business strategies and recent successes at the Red Herring North America Forum in Monterey, California, from May 21 to 23, 2013.

Red Herring has been selecting the most exciting and promising start-ups and “scale ups” since 1995. Finalists are still evaluated individually from a large pool of hundreds of candidates across North America. Twenty major criteria underlie the scoring and process. They include, among others: the candidate company’s addressable market size, its IP and patents, its financing, the proof of concept, trailing revenues, and management’s expertise. Each company goes through an individual interview after filling out a thorough submission, complemented by a due diligence. The list of finalists includes the best performing and prominent companies of that year.

Explorys Launches First Big Data-Powered Benchmarking Network to Prepare Leading Healthcare Systems for Value-Based Care Economy

World’s Largest Healthcare Big Data Compilation to Accelerate Quality Improvement, Cost Reduction, Risk Management and Transform Delivery Models with Comparative Data Network

New Orleans, LA, March 4, 2013 (HIMSS Booth #6455) — Explorys, the leader in big data-driven healthcare transformation, today announced the release of its new National Benchmark offering, which provides comparative metrics across more than 92 billion clinical, financial, and operational data facts spanning the continuum of care for 13 integrated delivery networks, 120 hospitals, and over 100,000 providers providing over $30 billion in care annually across the United States.

National Benchmarks, the first of a new series of comparative analytics, is available to Explorys’ customer base today, with support for disease management, quality, wellness, Accountable Care, and financial measures.  These benchmarks offer unique insight into patterns and trends by supplementing comprehensive clinical data with claims and administrative data.  This new offering enables leading healthcare organizations to compare their performance to the aggregate Explorys Network, all while preserving patient privacy and ensuring HIPAA compliance, and provider/system anonymity.

Participants in the Explorys Network include some of the nation’s leaders in care transformation, such as Cleveland Clinic, Catholic Health Partners, Iowa Health System, Centura Health, St. Joseph Health System, and Legacy Health. “These organizations recognize the imperative to leverage not only their own data, but also comparatively relevant metrics from the aggregate of their peers,” explains Stephen McHale, CEO, Explorys. “It’s this insight that enables provider organizations to design, construct, and measure value-based-care, bundled services, and direct-to-employer models. This is critical for effective payer contracting, as well as prediction and management of the impact on fee-for-service and other at-risk service lines.”

Building upon the Explorys Network and its growing member base, the company will continue to add capabilities throughout 2013 that enable advanced predictive models and analytics for value-based care transformation.

“Our ability to clinically benchmark both internally and externally within the Explorys Network provides an important basis for planning and measuring our quality and performance goals, particularly as the industry moves toward risk-sharing models.  We see a significant advantage in using this insight to inform new service offerings and drive better relationships with our payers and employers,” stated Mike Murphy, President and CEO of Accountable Care, Iowa Health System.

Explorys will be demonstrating its platform, applications, and new Network Benchmarking features at the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2013 Annual Conference and Exhibition from March 4-6, 2013 in New Orleans, LA at booth.  To schedule time to meet with an Explorys representative or existing customer, please go to https://www.explorys.com/contact-us/visit-us-@-himss13.

Legacy Health Selects Explorys as its Healthcare Big Data Platform for Value-Based Care Initiatives

Explorys, an innovator of cloud-computing platform solutions for leveraging big data in healthcare, announced today that Legacy Health, one of Oregon’s premier multi-hospital health systems, has selected Explorys to power the healthcare system’s enterprise and community-wide value–based care initiatives, including its flagship patient centered medical home (PCMH) program and to support its participation in the Cigna ACO launched in the region.  This news is great example of how provider organizations are starting to use the kind of powerful big data tools prevalent in other industries to figure out how to make initiatives like PCMH and ACO successful.  In this case, Legacy is using a cloud-based approach – which has a lot of benefits over the more traditional build a giant data warehouse approach – to aggregate and analyze not just their own data, but also data from partners like Cigna.

Explorys’ Cloud-Based Analytics Platform to Enhance Quality and Cost Performance at Legacy Health; Tool Will Combine and Analyze Data from Multiple Sources for Holistic View of Patient and Improved Care Coordination

Cleveland, OH, November 5, 2012 — Explorys, the leader in cloud-based big data solutions for healthcare, announced today that Legacy Health, one of Oregon’s premier multi-hospital health systems, has selected the Explorys Platform and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) applications to power the healthcare system’s enterprise and community-wide value-based care initiatives, including its flagship patient centered medical home (PCMH) program.  The Explorys solution will also play a key role in helping the organization to better understand quality and cost performance as it joins Cigna’s (NYSE: CI) new collaborative accountable care (ACO) program that was recently expanded into Oregon.

Legacy Health has been on the forefront of implementing new models of care.  Since 2007, Legacy Health has been implementing the PCMH model across their primary care practices.  Legacy Health is shifting to a holistic, coordinated approach to deliver quality care for the patients they serve.  “Taking our patient-centered care model to the next level will require more efficient, holistic visibility to the analytic information that is essential for improving coordinated care for all of the patients we serve,” said Kelley Aurand, DO, Legacy Health Medical Director of the Health Home. “Building on our very successful implementation of an electronic health record, we generate huge volume of clinical data that we can mine for better population health.”

“Legacy Health sought a data solution that would help us take the next steps in health care transformation,” said John Kenagy, PhD, Legacy Health’s senior vice president and CIO. “We need to be able to aggregate, analyze, and explore our clinical and operational data across our delivery system. As we become increasingly accountable for the long-term health of our patients, we will be analyzing data for patient quality and clinical effectiveness.”

The Explorys Platform supports a series of independent software-as-a-service applications for data exploration, population management, performance measurement, and patient outreach. Explorys analytics and informatics services provide prescriptive solutions that combine technology and process to deliver more effective care.  “It is obvious that Legacy Health is committed to the improvement of patient experience, the quality of care that is delivered, and lowering the cost of care to the populations they serve.  We are excited about the opportunity to partner with them as a foundational component of their population health management strategy to meet these needs now and in the future,” stated Sarah Mihalik, VP of Client Services, Explorys.
