Details of the relevance of the demonstration will be provided during a press briefing at the 2012 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition.

HIMSS12 – Las Vegas – Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012

WHAT:  Approximately 1.2 billion clinical documents are produced in the U.S. each year.  This tremendous source of clinical information is underutilized in current computer-based record systems.  ONC’s Office of Standards and Interoperability (S&I) recently hosted a volunteer effort through Health Level Seven (HL7) International and Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) USA to establish a national foundation for exchange of information collected in clinical documents.  The project produced a consolidated, cohesive set of structured clinical document templates using the HL7 Clinical Document Architecture standard and IHE integration profiles that are now available for industry adoption.  Use of the templates offers a huge step forward for health information interoperability in the U.S.  The Health Story Project will demonstrate use of the templates for the first time at the HIMSS12 Interoperability Showcase with a use case provided by the American College of Physicians.

WHO:  Press briefing panelists include:

• Doug Fridsma, MD, Director, ONC, Office of Standards & Interoperability
• Bob Dolin, MD, Representing the Health Story Project
• Charles Jaffe, MD, CEO, Health Level Seven (HL7) International

Clinical Quality Measures (CQMs) Engine Powers Imagine MD’s Electronic Health Record, Practice Management and Revenue Management Solutions

Affordable, Cloud-Based Service Combines EHR, PM and RM Functions in a Single, Intuitive Solution that is Designed around the CQM Standards Used by Federal and Private Payers

NEW YORK, NY (February 14, 2012) – As healthcare regulations and coding standards change and Meaningful Use incentives provide new reimbursement opportunities, healthcare practices struggle to find the right tools to optimize revenue and streamline administration. There are a number of solutions available for large practices, but until now, smaller practices (less than five physicians) have found it difficult to locate an affordable, full-service solution that may be implemented on a modular basis to minimize the disruption of a practice’s workflow. Imagine MD, a brand of eHealth Made EASY, LLC, now provides a secure, up-to-date, cloud-based, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution that combines full Electronic Health Records (EHR), Practice Management (PM) and Revenue Management (RM) functionality on a single, affordable system. Imagine MD offers the only complete solution that is built around a CQM performance engine with real-time business analytics.

The solution, which is being presented February 21-23 at the 2012 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition at Booth 13231, unifies EHR, PM and RM functions into an easy-to-use web portal that allows physicians to quickly and accurately document visits using drop-down menus. Featuring an intuitive flow that automatically generates the correct codes to optimize  reimbursement, the Imagine MD solution does not require a long-term contract. And since it is cloud-based, smaller practices can take advantage of its advanced features without buying expensive servers, software, equipment or IT support. Cloud delivery also enables physicians to benefit from a continuously updated, CQM-driven knowledge base, which helps them adapt to changing rules.

“Imagine MD allows practices to rethink EHR, PM and RM, providing unified, cutting-edge technology resources without the big-practice price tag,” said George S. Blumenthal, eHealth Made EASY, LLC Chairman and CEO. “It’s a user-friendly solution that doesn’t distract physicians from their primary goal, which is to deliver quality patient care. With only broadband Internet access and a device with a browser, medical professionals can document encounters in real time and access the type of advanced EHR, PM and RM functions formerly available only to large practices. The fact that we designed our solution around the CQM standards that drive federal reimbursements and are now being adopted by leading insurance companies like UnitedHealth Group gives our customers a huge advantage in the shifting healthcare landscape.”

A pioneer in the wireless industry, Mr. Blumenthal served as Founder and Chairman of Cellular Communications, Inc., which operated as CellularOne in the US and Puerto Rico and as Omnitel in Europe (later Vodafone of Italy). He was also Founder and Chairman of International CableTel, which is now Virgin Media, the only cable company in England. More than 30,000,000 people utilize the services of these companies on a daily basis. With a background that includes founding Teramed Inc., acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2002, and having provided a major New York hospital with a clinical trial registry to support an NIH grant, Mr. Blumenthal is uniquely qualified to oversee delivery of a customer-focused, cloud-based solution for the hundreds of thousands of underserved small medical practices.

Imagine MD’s customer focus comes through clearly in two ways: First, Imagine MD truly understands the needs of smaller practices, which is evident in the clean functionality of the ONC-ATCB-certified, Meaningful Use-optimized, CQM-powered EHR solution. The second component is the robust service Imagine MD provides to support the solution. The customer-centric focus is the result of the management team’s extensive experience in the premium quality service industry. Unlike plug-and-play software that leaves physicians and their staff to manage implementation on their own, Imagine MD is there every step of the way, providing support and training to ensure that medical professionals and practice staff take full advantage of all of the solution’s features and receive the maximum benefits from Meaningful Use incentives and practice management tools.

As a single database solution, Imagine MD houses all clinical, administrative and financial data at one location, which results in more consistent, easily accessible information than that provided by separately integrated systems. It is designed to flow as practice activities flow – starting with a multi-language patient portal that allows patients to provide medical history, insurance, demographic and pharmacy information along with messaging functions for appointment setting and confirmation. The solution delivers front desk verification functions as well as robust encounter documentation tools. And after each patient encounter, the solution flows seamlessly to check-out, billing and claims management and business analytics functions, providing a comprehensive PM solution that is fully integrated with the EHR tools.

With thousands of care documentation templates in addition to risk management and revenue capture tools housed on the cloud, Imagine MD eliminates the need for practices to back up data or address changing ICD codes, CQM standards and regulatory guidelines, making it the ideal solution for smaller practices. It is the only solution on the market that is powered by a CQM engine to maximize revenue. Imagine MD offers its innovative solution to individual practices and as a white label service to select partners. Learn more about Imagine MD at www.imagine-md.com.

About the Company

eHealth Made EASY, LLC was founded in 2006 with the realization that Bush-era legislation was mandating pervasive evidenced-based healthcare through performance of Clinical Quality Measures (CQMs). The company develops health information technology built around CQM performance with real-time business analytics. Imagine MD is a  cloud-based, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), single-source database solution that enables healthcare professionals to manage administrative, financial and clinical health record functions efficiently and affordably on a unified system. With a US-based, cloud computing platform that delivers easy-to-use, intuitive Electronic Health Records (EHR), Practice Management (PM) and Revenue Management (RM) tools, Imagine MD is empowering medical professionals to rethink EHR, PM and RM with unified, cutting-edge technology. HIMSS Analytics Honors Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center with Stage 7 Award

The HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 award honors hospitals operating in a paperless environment and representing best practices in implementing EMR

HIMSS Analytics announced that Moanalua Medical Center, a Kaiser Permanente hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, has received its Stage 7 Award. The award represents attainment of the highest level on the Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM), which is used to track EMR progress at hospitals and health systems.

HIMSS Analytics developed the EMR Adoption Model in 2005 as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics™ Database. There are eight stages (0-7) that measure a hospital’s implementation and utilization of information technology applications. The final stage, Stage 7, represents an advanced patient record environment. The validation process to confirm a hospital has reached Stage 7 includes a site visit by an executive from HIMSS Analytics and former or current chief information officers to ensure an unbiased evaluation of the Stage 7 environments.

The hospital will be recognized at the 2012 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on Feb. 21-24, 2012, in Las Vegas. As of December 2011, Moanalua Medical Center is the first hospital in the state of Hawaii, and one of only 65 U.S. facilities, or 1.2 percent, of the more than 5,000 U.S. hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Database, to be awarded the HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 Award.

“Being the first and only hospital in Hawaii to achieve the highest level of recognition by HIMSS Analytics for our electronic medical records model is a testament to our physicians and staff at our Moanalua Medical Center and their dedication to providing the highest quality and safest care to our patients,” said Brian Yoshii, Kaiser Permanente’s Vice President, Information Technology. “Kaiser Permanente has been investing in interactive online systems to enhance service and convenience for our members for more than a decade. With one of the most robust and sophisticated EMR systems available anywhere, our patients benefit from proactive prevention measures and the coordination of care between our physicians.”

Kaiser Permanente’s web site – KP.org – embraces two fully integrated secure systems:  My Health Manager for member access and HealthConnect™ for internal management of members’ records. The two features provide members with the convenience of e-mailing their personal physician, accessing lab results, prescription refills and appointment scheduling.
In addition, the general public is encouraged to access health care information, hundreds of recipes, podcasts, health-related videos, interactive health tools and more through this paperless system. Kaiser Permanente is the exclusive provider of HealthConnect™, improving prevention and the coordination of care for members and enhancing the way physicians work together.

Through HealthConnect™ every entry in a member’s record is securely integrated into a single EMR that is accessible to the entire network of more than 450 physicians and thousands of clinical support staff. Specialists no longer have to wait for the delivery of paper-based records and test results, and under appropriate patient confidentiality safeguards, secure EMR allow health care providers in different locations to collaborate and coordinate care for their patients based on current, comprehensive clinical information. Reduced paperwork not only speeds access to care, but improves patient safety by eliminating the need for caregivers and pharmacists to decipher handwritten information on charts and prescriptions.

“Moanalua Medical Center has a superb disaster recovery and business continuity plan, one very well thought out and explained (during our discussions).  This is a very open group who demonstrated that they listen to the users’ needs and make adjustments accordingly to improve and enhance use of their health IT systems, “ said John P. Hoyt, FACHE, FHIMSS, Executive Vice President, HIMSS Analytics. “The hospital’s CPOE and bar-coded medication administration all show superb acceptance and use by clinicians, as noted in the usage percentages.”

Visit the HIMSS Analytics Web site for more information on the Stage 7 award.  Find out more about HIMSS12.

HIMSS Analytics Honors Deaconess Health System with Stage 7 Award

In just over two years, Deaconess made the journey from a paper-based record to a paperless system culminating with its Stage 7 recognition.  Being a very ‘data-driven’ organization, in addition to getting the systems in place, Deaconess has been able to make marked improvements in quality outcomes by using the data from the EHR to change processes and monitor results.

The HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 Award honors hospitals that operate in a paperless environment and represent best practices in implementation of the EMR

HIMSS Analytics
announces that Deaconess Health System received its Stage 7 Award. The award represents attainment of the highest level on the EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM), which is used to track EMR progress at hospitals and health systems. The hospital will be recognized at the 2012 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on Feb. 21-24, 2012, in Las Vegas. And as of November, 2011, Deaconess Health System is one of 65, or 1.1 percent, of the more than 5,000 U.S. hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Database, recognized by HIMSS Analytics with its Stage 7 Award.
“Having our organization recognized as a HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 recipient, and in the company of so many prestigious organizations around the country, is definitely something that we are proud of.  While it is a great achievement, it is not the finish line for us.  Our focus from day-one, when we launched our EHR initiative, was centered on the quality care for the patients we serve,” said Todd F. Richardson, Chief Information Officer at Deaconess Health System. “While these types of recognition give us a sense that we are making great strides, they are not our focus.  First and foremost, it is a tribute to our fantastic caregivers who use the tools that we provide them on a daily basis in the care of our patients.  Without them, it would be just another tool.”
HIMSS Analytics developed the EMR Adoption Model in 2005 as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics™ Database. Tracking their progress in completing eight stages (0-7), hospitals can review the implementation and utilization of information technology applications with the intent of reaching Stage 7, which represents an advanced patient record environment. The validation process that confirms a hospital has reached Stage 7 includes a site visit conducted by an executive from HIMSS Analytics and former or current chief information officers to ensure an unbiased evaluation of the Stage 7 environments.
Deaconess Health System is located in Evansville, Ind. and serves a population of approximately 850,000 residents in a 25-county region of the Tri-State area of Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.  Deaconess covers four hospitals and 19 ambulatory clinics with over 100 employed physicians as well as over a dozen ‘Affiliate Physicians’ in independent practices.
“Earning the HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 award marks outstanding achievement, and congratulations to Deaconess Health System for receiving this honor. The Deaconess system’s strategic governance approach and use of data to create a data-driven culture exemplify the benefits health IT offers to improve the delivery of patient care,” said John P. Hoyt, FACHE, FHIMSS, Executive Vice President, HIMSS Analytics.
Visit the HIMSS Analytics Web site for more information on the Stage 7 award. Find out more about HIMSS12 on the conference website.
