UCSF and Harvard Trained Doctor Joins DoctorBase as Chief Medical Officer

Zachary Landman Brings Familial Roots to the Future of mHealth

San Francisco, CA (June 11, 2013) — DoctorBase, a leading mobile solution provider for medical practices, today announced that Dr. Zachary Landman has joined the company as its Chief Medical Officer. The addition of Landman provides DoctorBase with an expert voice to help guide the development of new technologies in the emerging field of mHealth-as-a-Service (mHaaS).

mHaaS technology alleviates common financial pressures on small medical practices by readily making available services that help increase patient volume and revenue. BlueMail, DoctorBase’s flagship service, monetizes typically uncompensated patient communications such as email and text. By employing the software-as-a-service model, mHaaS allows healthcare providers to begin using and benefiting from these technologies with little or no capital investment.

“Both my parents’ practices had to sell to larger health groups, effectively turning them from small business owners to employees. mHaaS technology would’ve given them another option,” said Landman. “I’ve seen first-hand the benefits of using DoctorBase solutions to communicate securely with my colleagues and believe in harnessing the power of technology to help small practices stay in business while continuing to provide the high level of care their patients have and can continue to expect to receive.”

Landman is a former Orthopaedic surgery resident at Harvard Medical School where he covered Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women’s, and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospitals. While there, he developed a curriculum for first year surgical residents and helped form a surgeon based charity to benefit victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of California, San Francisco where he published original research in Spine, Pediatrics, Sports Medicine, and Advanced Imaging.

“Zach has deep roots in healthcare,” said John Sung Kim, CEO of DoctorBase. “His insight into how features like BlueMail can grow medical practices will be invaluable to our team.”
