Fovia Delivers 3D Teaching Tools to Medical Educators

High Definition Volume Rendering® Accelerates Changes in Anatomical Science and Education
Palo Alto and Mammoth Lakes, California, July 27, 2012 – Fovia Medical, Inc., a world leader in volume rendering technology, and i-Human Patients® (“i-Human”), an innovative designer and developer of i-Human’s “virtual” medical training products and services, today announced a collaboration to incorporate High Definition Volume Rendering® in i-Human’s interactive medical education applications.
Fovia’s HDVR® Connect thin client-sever software will enable i-Human to incorporate unrivaled, high-resolution 3D images into their “virtual” patient cases, including those delivered via the web. Fovia’s HDVR® technology delivers on-the-fly, interactive, deep super-sampling quality and superior performance, which will become an integral part of i-Human’s active-learning-based training modules that depict functional anatomy and pathophysiological conditions.
i-Human’s virtual training 3D teaching modules will be dramatically more accessible with HDVR software embedded due to the unparalleled accuracy levels and the savings in valuable development time; two areas in which mesh-based solutions are unable to compete. In the past, mesh-based teaching modules have taken years—even decades—to create, and they often lack essential elements necessary to educate students about pathologies and to demonstrate state-of-the-art surgical technologies.
“With Fovia’s HDVR Connect software, students using i-Human will be better able to analyze 3D anatomical structures and improve their clinical assessment skills. The ability to visualize CT and MR cases in real time will create a paradigm shift in teaching anatomy and pathology,” said Craig Knoche, President of i-Human Patients. “Partnering with Fovia is a natural evolution of our goal to build an internet-based “computer human” for the benefit of both students and educators,” he said.
Ken Fineman, Chief Executive Officer of Fovia stated, “We are very enthusiastic about our collaboration with i-Human, and commend its innovative approach to providing realistic interactive teaching modules for medical and scientific education. Fovia’s flexible, scalable solution is designed for use in a wide range of environments, and we are thrilled with this expanded application of our HDVR software.”
