CENTENNIAL, Colo. – May 21, 2012 – Just Associates, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in data integrity and data quality solutions for healthcare organizations, has appointed Karen Proffitt, MS, RHIA, CHP as its vice president of consulting services.
In this role, Proffitt will oversee Just Associates’ consulting services. She is also responsible for strategic development of new services and solutions that leverage the firm’s unique data integrity capabilities to serve evolving market needs.
“With more than 30 years of experience in HIM, Karen brings to Just Associates a strong expertise in EMPI management, Epic implementation and data governance,” said Beth Just, MBA, RHIA, FAHIMA, president and CEO, Just Associates. “We are excited to have her as part of the Just Associates team.”
Prior to joining Just Associates, Proffitt served as the system EHR director for Exempla Healthcare and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System in Lakewood, Colo. There, she managed the EHR HIM operations team during Exempla’s implementation of the Epic system and oversaw the data integrity of its EMPI system. She was previously the health information management department director at The Children’s Hospital in Denver, where she managed HIM operations and developed a comprehensive legal medical record policy and EHR correction procedures.
Past positions include senior business analyst/product manager for McKesson Corporation and HIM department director for Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center, Yavapai Regional Medical Center, and Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Proffitt received her Bachelor’s of Science in Medical Record Administration and her Master’s of Science in Health Information/Informatics from the University of Tennessee. She is a member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), has served as the director of the Colorado Health Information Management Association and is the past president of the Tennessee Health Information Management Association.
