Scribes STAT to Provide Certified Medical Scribes to Legacy Meridian Park Hospital for EMR Implementation Tutoring

Lake Oswego, Oregon – July 26th, 2011

Scribes STAT, Inc., will provide certified medical scribe services to Legacy Meridian Park Hospital. Certified medical scribes will be deployed to assist physicians with implementation and training on the new electronic medical record (EMR) system from Epic Systems Corporation.

To ensure effective integration and assist with the ongoing, system-wide implementation of a new electronic medical record, Scribes STAT medical scribes will be deployed throughout the Legacy Health System, including the emergency department and outpatient clinics where patient volume is high and the need exists for improved physician efficiency. Medical scribes will assist Legacy Meridian Park Hospital by tutoring physicians on Epic Systems as well as providing medical scribing services.

“Scribes STAT certified medical scribes help prevent the loss of efficiency that most hospitals and clinics experience during the first 3-12 months of using the new EMR, ” Jack Graham, Regional Manager, stated. “We have trained premedical students and medical doctors in residency on the key workflows within The Epic System, which has proven to significantly increase efficiency and decrease problems associated with implementation.”

Based on pioneering work by founder and emergency room physician, Dr. Kathleen Myers and her colleagues, medical scribes have been operating in all five hospitals within the Legacy Health System since 2005. Scribes STAT has expanded coverage to clinics and continues to set the standard for recruiting, selecting and providing certified training for medical scribes across the United States.

  • Industrious indeed, to use medical students who need good premedical letters of recommendations to get into medical school. Should be very motivated to do a good job. Wonder what they get paid? For me, my load is not so much that I can’t chart and make eye contact with the patient simultaneously right now, but higher patient volume would do that certainly. It was also interesting to see them pushing higher levels of coding to offset the cost of scribe services.
