Merge Healthcare Adds Two Healthcare Veterans to the Company’s Senior Leadership Team

CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Merge Healthcare (NASDAQ: MRGE), a leading health IT solutions provider, announced today that it has added two former Allscripts executives to the Merge senior leadership team. Steve Brewer will serve as Executive Vice President, Product Solutions and will have responsibility for the company’s solution strategy, marketing and business development teams. Steve Martin joins as Senior Vice President, Sales and will lead all of Merge’s global sales efforts.

Both Mr. Brewer and Mr. Martin joined Allscripts in 2007 through Allscripts’ acquisition of ECIN, a web-based Care Management provider. They both served on the ECIN management team, along with current Merge CEO Jeff Surges, who was the CEO of ECIN for the 9 years prior to the acquisition by Allscripts.

“I’ve known and worked with both Steve Brewer and Steve Martin for most of the last 20 years,” stated Mr. Surges. “I’m thrilled to add them to the great team we already have in place here at Merge. Mr. Brewer has over 22 years in healthcare and IT leadership positions and was most recently responsible for Solutions Sales at Allscripts. Prior to joining Allscripts, he served as CEO of Dentalxchange, Inc. and was employed as a General Manager of the Practice Management Group at McKesson.

“It was clear to me that Merge is uniquely positioned to be the dominant force as image interoperability plays an increasingly meaningful role as hospitals and physicians seek to leverage their electronic health record investments,” added Mr. Brewer. “I’m very pleased to be joining Merge at such a pivotal time.”

Mr. Martin has served in sales leader positions at high-growth companies for the last 20 years. At Allscripts he served as SVP, Segment Sales, with sales leadership responsibility for the Acute and Post-Acute markets. Previously, Mr. Martin was on the senior management team of ECIN from the company’s inception through the acquisition by Allscripts in 2007.

“Merge Chairman, Michael Ferro was an investor of ours at ECIN, so the opportunity to pursue another venture together was just one of many reasons that made this role at Merge so exciting to pursue,” stated Mr. Martin.
